“Amal” Extended School Day Care Center, Holon

Director: Anat Shitrit

Chimes Israel operates the extended school-day care center, “Amal”, in Holon. Located in the “Amal” special education school, the center serves the students of the school, offering them stability and security in a familiar environment.

The “Amal” Extended School Day Care Center integrates 32 children and youth, between the ages of 6 to 21, with mild to moderate intellectual developmental disabilities into its program. Many of the children have additional difficulties such as ADHD, communications disorders, behavioral disorders, varied levels of autism, etc.

The children at the “Amal” Center are divided into groups according to their ages and level of functioning as well as the individual needs of each child. Each group is cared for by a permanent team with a set daily agenda tailored to the needs of the children.

The “Amal” Center employs professional counselors and experts who are responsible for the individualized therapy programs and the various group activities. There are a number of group activities like sports, animal therapy, music, yoga, etc.

In addition to these therapies and groups, the counselors and many volunteers who are integrated into the classes and activities at the Center, guide the children in many additional activities like arts, sports, playing games, music, etc.

A light snack is served to the children in the afternoons. During the summer and holidays, the children receive hot meals at the Center.

In the course of the year, many events are held in conjunction with volunteers from the community, including employees from Bank HaPoalim, business firms, scholarship students and groups of soldiers.
