“Chimes’ ‘Enoch’ Extended School Day Care Center”
Director: Inbar Kaldes
Chimes Israel operates the “Enoch” Extended School-Day Care Center, in the Yad Eliyahu neighborhood of Tel Aviv. Located in the “Enoch” special education school, the center serves the students of the school, offering them a feeling of safety and security.
The “Enoch” Extended School-Day Care Center integrates children and youth, between the ages of 6 to 21, with mild to moderate intellectual developmental disabilities into its program. Many of the children have additional difficulties such as ADHD, communications disorders, behavioral disorders, etc.
The children at the “Enoch” Center are divided into groups according to their ages and level of functioning. Each group is cared for by a permanent team with a set daily agenda full of activities tailored to the needs of the children. Various therapies and classes are offered at the Center, including arts, photography, entrepreneurship, psychodrama, animal therapy, science quizzes, story hour, etc.
At lunchtime at the Center, the children receive a hot meal and in the afternoon, a light snack.
At the Chimes’ ‘Enoch’ Extended School-Day Care Center, there are special and unique programs run by the staff and volunteers, such as:
- The “‘Green’ Club”: A program to promote and increase the children’s awareness of protecting the environment and recycling.
- “Personal Mentoring”: The older children mentor the younger children once a week at the Center.
- “Life Skills”: This activity helps the children learn skills that they will need on a daily basis and help them develop their independence.
- “The Mother Project”: Women volunteers come to the Center to help the children (on an individual and group basis) learn skills such as reading, writing, mathematics, learning retention and to help them with their homework.
In the course of the year, many events are held in conjunction with volunteers from the community, among them: employees from Bank HaPoalim, the Ramat Gan Scouts, scholarship students and groups of soldiers.
