“Chimes’ ‘Shaked’, Rehabilitation Day Care Center, Ashkelon”
Manager: Pola Malchi
Chimes’ ‘Shaked’ Rehabilitation Day Care Center opened in Ashkelon in 2006 and is operated by Chimes Israel under the supervision of the Ministries of Welfare and Social Services and Health in cooperation with the Municipality of Ashkelon for the purpose of providing rehabilitation treatment services to children, aged 6 months to 3 years, with developmental delays from Ashkelon and its neighboring communities.
The objectives of Chimes’ ‘Shaked’ Day Care Center:
- To offer rehabilitative and therapeutic intervention in the early stages of the child’s development for the purpose of helping the child to reach his maximum potential.
- To provide assistance and support to the child’s family in dealing with the child’s treatments while minimizing the effects of this child’s disability on the family.
Chimes’ ‘Shaked’ Day Care Center operates in two buildings and cares for about 40 infants and toddlers with developmental delays. The children are transported to the center and back home with an escort.
At the Chimes’ ‘Shaked’ Day Care Center, the children receive educational and advanced paramedical treatments in a kindergarten setting – including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and more.
Concurrently, the Chimes’ ‘Shaked’ Day Care Center operates a social network that addresses issues for the families of the children (parents, siblings and grandparents).
The Chimes’ ‘Shaked’ Day Care Center maintains constant contact with the Institute of Child Development at Barzilai Hospital and the Ashkelon Branch of the Welfare Department.
The Chimes’ ‘Shaked’ Day Care Center operates a unique program that provides a multi-purpose solution – until 19:00 pm – for children at high risk at home as a result of dysfunctional parenting, low socio-economic backgrounds and many other problems. The goals of this program are two-fold: to provide a safe and nurturing environment in which to reach their emotional and developmental potential and to provide the parents with professional guidance and tools to deal with a child with special needs within this sheltered environment.
Children who are accepted into the full-day program, finish at 19:00.
Sundays through Thursdays from 07:45 to 16:00 and Fridays, from 07:45 to 12:00.
Full-day program, finish at 19:00.
Address: Plugot 21, Neve Yam, Ashkelon
