“Chimes’ Sheltered Workshops for Clients with Various Disabilities, Rosh Ha’Ayin”
Manager: David Shavlev
In 2006, Chimes Israel won the tender from the municipality of Rosh Ha’Ayin to operate the Sheltered Workshop for Clients with Varied Disabilities. The Sheltered Workshop is located in the Park Afek Industrial Park in Rosh Ha’Ayin. This facility currently offers services to approximately 100 clients with various disabilities, including mental health issues, intellectual and developmental disabilities, rehabilitation, autism and other low-functioning conditions, working side-by-side. We believe in this heterogeneous approach where every person has something to contribute and something to learn from the other.
There are diverse and unusual job opportunities, on a steady basis which allow appropriate modification of the job to suit the individual, occupational needs of the clients while promoting and realizing the maximum potential of each client.
Details of the services available at the facility for varied disabilities are as follows:
- “Crispy” Workshop: Clients are integrated in a production line which makes crispy crackers. The work involves operating machines, mixing the raw materials to produce the crackers, as well as the packaging and distribution. This production line is a collaboration between Chimes Israel and the Delight Company.
- ZerOzer Workshop: Chimes Israel operates an occupational rehabilitation enterprise dealing with flowers and gifts. In this program, the clients are integrated into the business of arranging flowers and designing and packaging gifts for private and corporate customers. There is a shop located within this facility, where the items that are produced are sold. This workshop is a channel that allows rehabilitative and professional training in floral arrangements and sales (including telemarketing and deliveries), with the goal of future integration into the general community according to the abilities and talents of each client. In this workshop, the clients are exposed to creative work which encourages emotional expression and enables improved self-image due to their success and personal progress while giving legitimacy to improve their capabilities, develop self-awareness and more.
- Factory Workshop: In this workshop, the rehabilitants work with packaging and assorted assembly jobs which require varying occupational skills. We take care to add more complex jobs which require quality control and more extensive occupational skills. A special project is the Nagaya workshop – preparing organic gift packaging made from recycled cardboard filled with quality organic products.
Supported Workshop: In this workshop, the clients require increased support, para-medical treatments, therapies, etc. with the goal of realizing the maximum potential of their occupational abilities. This workshop was established as part of a continuum of services in the facility and enables provision of a professional and individually tailored program to serve as a platform.
Chimes’ Sheltered Workshop in Rosh Ha’Ayin operates according to the International ISO 9001 standard in the areas of production and service and serves as a unique model in the field of enterprises for those with varied disabilities, thanks to the complete integration of clients with various disabilities in creative workshops and to the diversity and creativity of occupations offered.
