A child with autism and apraxia may understand everything around him but remain unable to ask for food, say \u201cMommy,\u201d or tell someone he feels scared. A toddler with cerebral palsy may struggle to sit upright, join classroom activities, or experience independent movement. The equipment will help some children sit independently for the first time, tolerate transitions, participate in classroom activities, or experience supported movement. For children who cannot communicate, assistive technology will provide a voice, allowing them to tell others what they need and how they feel.<\/p><p>With the right equipment, children can sit upright, take supported steps, regulate emotions, communicate needs, tolerate transitions, participate in play, strengthen visual tracking, interact with peers, and join classroom life.<\/p><p>For children with limited verbal communication, assistive technology opens an entirely new world. Through iPads, communication software, symbols, images, and voice-output systems, children who cannot say \u201cI\u2019m hungry,\u201d \u201cI\u2019m scared,\u201d \u201cI need help,\u201d or \u201cI want Mommy\u201d begin expressing needs, feelings, choices, and ideas, often for the first time in their lives.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-418b400 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"418b400\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Yosef\u2019s Story<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-635e61eb elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"635e61eb\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Yosef is two and a half years old. He has autism and apraxia, a neurological condition that makes speech extremely difficult. Yosef is bright. He understands what happens around him. He has thoughts, feelings, preferences, fears, and joys. For most of his young life, he had no reliable way to share them.<\/p><p>His speech-language pathologist introduced a simple communication board with pictures and words such as \u201cmore,\u201d \u201cbread,\u201d and \u201cno.\u201d One day, Yosef looked at the food cart and pointed to the picture for \u201cmore\u201d next to a food he loved.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>That moment changed everything. Yosef became calmer, more engaged, and more confident. He began to reach out instead of withdraw. He started using gestures, then pointing, and then his first spoken words: Ima and Abba.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>When a child feels heard, he wants to connect.
