Mental Health Employment Support
Employment as part of recovery
Supported employment through the Integration Program
The Integration Program provides supported employment in the open labor market, with placements tailored to each person’s skills, abilities, and interests. Participants work in a wide range of settings, including banks, law firms, high-tech companies, universities, food and catering businesses, warehouses, manufacturing plants, and additional sectors. Employment relationships follow standard employer-employee arrangements, with wages and conditions provided according to Israeli labor law. Participants work as employees of the workplace, not as program staff, reinforcing dignity, responsibility, and inclusion.
Each participant, along with their Chimes employment coordinator, develops a rehabilitation and employment plan based on personal choice, abilities, and goals, in keeping with the recovery-oriented approach. The employment coordinator provides guidance before and throughout employment, supporting workplace integration and long-term stability. The program operates in close collaboration with psychiatrists, psychologists, housing support providers, social workers, and Ministry of Health care coordinators. This coordinated approach ensures continuity of care and alignment between employment, treatment, and daily living supports.
The Transitions Program for older adults
Retirement can bring challenges such as isolation or loss of routine. Chimes Israel’s Transitions Program responds by helping individuals age 60+ living with mental health challenges, remain active, connected, and valued. This program focuses on the transition to retirement and helps participants build meaningful daily routines, social connection, and continued engagement beyond paid employment.
Participants receive personalized guidance in identifying volunteer roles, social frameworks, leisure activities, and community involvement that reflect their interests and abilities. Support continues in collaboration with rehabilitation services, welfare and health agencies, and family members. The goal is to maintain continuity, belonging, and quality of life throughout later adulthood.
