Therapeutic Nursing Day Centers
Comprehensive care for adults with complex needs
Chimes Israel’s therapeutic nursing day centers serve adults age 21 and above with intellectual and developmental disabilities who require extensive therapeutic and nursing support. The centers operate in collaboration with local authorities and under the supervision and funding of Israel’s Ministry of Labor, Welfare, and Social Services.
Structured, enriching days with professional support
Each center provides a structured daily schedule that combines enriching group activities with ongoing therapeutic and paramedical services. Participants receive physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, music therapy, rehabilitative art, therapeutic gardening, and additional supports based on individual needs. Alongside therapeutic care, professional nursing staff provide daily assistance with feeding, hygiene, medication administration, and personal care.
Individualized programs and quality of life
Each participant follows a personalized program developed according to their wishes and needs, in partnership with families, caregivers, and professional staff. The program focuses on maintaining and strengthening personal abilities, supporting independence in daily life, and improving overall quality of life. Through consistent support and appropriate adaptations, participants increase their ability to participate more fully and equally in community and family life.
The role of volunteers
Because many participants spend most of their waking hours in the centers, volunteers bring a welcome change of pace. Coming from a range of programs and visiting the centers regularly, they accompany the participants in their activities. They often spend time sitting, talking, and engaging with individuals one-on-one, helping them feel seen, valued, and connected. They can also join participants on community outings and excursions. Their presence breaks routine, introduces new relationships, and adds moments of personal connection that enrich daily life and strengthen a sense of dignity and belonging.
Community participation and continuity of care
The centers support adults with disabilities in remaining active members of their communities while receiving the level of care they require. By combining therapeutic services, nursing care, and structured social activity, the centers provide continuity, stability, and dignity across adulthood.
