Protecting the Most Vulnerable: Trauma & Exploitation Awareness

Chimes Israel, together with the Argaman Institute, is launching a groundbreaking program to protect children, youth, and adults with disabilities from trauma, abuse, and exploitation.

For more than three decades, Chimes Israel has helped people with disabilities live lives of dignity, independence, and inclusion. Today, we operate centers across Israel serving families of every background. But too often, people with disabilities, especially women and girls, face abuse that goes unnoticed, ignored, or excused. Many remain silent out of fear or dependence on their caregivers.

We believe this must change.

A First-of-its-Kind Program

Our new Organization-Wide Trauma & Exploitation Awareness Program will transform the way we serve people with disabilities by:

• Training staff across all centers to recognize and respond to trauma with sensitivity and care
• Empowering women, men, and youth with disabilities to identify abuse and protect themselves
• Supporting parents and caregivers with knowledge and tools to safeguard their loved ones
• Embedding a culture of safety into every layer of the organization

Together, we can make Chimes Israel the first organization in the country to earn a “Standards Mark” for Trauma and Exploitation Awareness, setting the benchmark for all disability services in Israel.

Why This Matters

People with disabilities experience far higher rates of abuse and exploitation than the general population. Many never receive justice, protection, or even the chance to speak up.

This program is not only about prevention, it’s about transformation. It’s about creating safe spaces where every child and adult with disabilities is treated with dignity, respect, and care.
