Filling a long-standing gap in care
Through years of planning, advocacy, and perseverance, Chimes Israel recently fulfilled a long-promised and overdue vision with the establishment of a rehabilitative therapeutic daycare center for adults with moderate to severe intellectual and developmental disabilities in Kfar Kassem.
For decades, families in Kfar Kassem were promised support, yet no appropriate facility ever materialized. Adults with disabilities and their families were left with few options and little assistance. Chimes Israel created this center to close that gap and to uphold a core principle of our organization: providing essential services to all sectors of society, regardless of ethnicity, religion, nationality, age, or gender.
Comprehensive care that builds dignity and independence
The center delivers integrated therapeutic and nursing care that strengthens physical and cognitive functioning, supports emotional well-being, and promotes daily independence. Participants engage in meaningful activities that encourage community inclusion and personal dignity. As adults gain greater independence, families experience reduced caregiving burdens, allowing parents and relatives to pursue employment and stability. At the same time, the center drives cultural change by reducing stigma and increasing awareness around disability within Arab society.
Impact of donor support
Thanks to donor generosity, the center now features a therapeutic greenhouse, where participants nurture plants, build practical skills, and experience pride through purposeful work and shared accomplishment. Donor support has also made assistive technology available, enabling people with disabilities to communicate more effectively, express choices, and actively participate in daily activities and therapeutic programs.
We are now focused on equipping and enriching it fully. We are raising funds to provide specialized therapeutic and nursing equipment, enrichment programs that expand skills and quality of life, and additional assistive technologies that maximize independence and participation.
