Project to Build Adult Daycare Center for People with Disabilities in the Arab-Israel City of Kfar Kassem

Enriching the Lives of the Underserved – Chimes Israel’s Kfar Kassem Center

Chimes Israel has recently built a rehabilitative therapeutic daycare for adults with moderate to severe intellectual and developmental disabilities in the village of Kfar Kassem, an Israeli-Arab city.

This was a breakthrough initiative. For decades, families in Kfar Kassem were promised help, but no suitable facility was ever provided. The situation in this area has long been desperate, with very few services available for adults with disabilities. Our center finally fills this gap, consistent with one of Chimes Israel’s core tenets: to provide services for all sectors of the population, irrespective of ethnicity, religion, politics, nationality, age, or gender.

What the Center Provides

• Therapeutic support to improve the physical and mental condition of adults with disabilities
• Community inclusion and opportunities for meaningful participation
• Rightful services long denied to a vulnerable minority population
• Independence for participants, reducing the burden on families
• Economic opportunity for caregiving family members, who are freed to pursue work
• Cultural change to reduce harmful stigmas around disabilities within Arab society

Thanks to donor support, we have already installed a therapeutic greenhouse, where participants nurture plants, build skills, and experience the joy of accomplishment.
