Nofar Horesh is a shy woman with a simple yet powerful dream — to be part of something bigger. The 34-year-old from Rishon LeZion, who has an intellectual developmental disability, has been working at Israel’s leading pharmacy chains, Super-Pharm, as a product stocker since 2017.
But Nofar’s job is about so much more than organized shelves — it’s a story of steady growth, self-belief, professional and sensitive support, and above all, fulfillment.
When Nofar first began her journey, she was filled with hesitation. The size of the store, the overwhelming variety of products, and the need to interact with customers were all significant challenges for her. She avoided direct contact with customers and focused only on familiar, limited tasks. Yet her dream—to become a respected, skilled, and valued employee—was more potent than her fears.
That’s when Jenny Nicole Brenner entered the picture. Jenny, a placement coordinator from Chimes Israel, began working with Nofar through Chimes Israel’s employment support program. Together, they created a unique tool called a “Success Journal,” documenting every small step forward, every moment of progress, and every compliment received. Gradually, Nofar gained confidence, became familiar with every part of the store, and began assisting customers—with a smile and growing confidence.
Today, Nofar doesn’t just stock shelves. She helps in the storeroom, guides customers. Best of all, her colleagues regard her with admiration and respect. In eight years, she hasn’t missed a single workday. She’s always on time, participates in social activities, and stands out as a professional, dedicated, and beloved employee.
Perhaps the moment that best reflects her place as an equal team member is her birthday celebration—a tradition held each year by her coworkers. These celebrations, where Nofar is surrounded by appreciation and love, are more than festive events — they’re a declaration saying, “You belong. You are one of us.”
Nofar is an inspiring example of what happens when you combine belief, support, and consistency with a real opportunity.
